The purity calculator multiplies the gross weight of a gold item by its karat purity to find the amount of pure (fine) gold it contains, then values that fine gold at the live 24K spot price. This is the standard way jewelers and dealers estimate the intrinsic metal value of an item — useful when buying second-hand jewelry, valuing an inheritance, or selling scrap gold, because it tells you what a piece is worth as raw metal regardless of its design.
The math is simple: fine gold weight = gross weight × purity, and value = (fine grams ÷ 31.1035) × spot price per troy ounce. For example, a 20-gram 18K necklace contains 20 × 0.75 = 15 grams of pure gold. At a spot price of $2,000 per ounce, that is (15 ÷ 31.1035) × $2,000 ≈ $964 of gold. The calculator performs these steps for you using the live price.
The investment calculator compares what you paid for your gold against its current market value to show your unrealized profit or loss and return on investment (ROI). It converts your holding to troy ounces, multiplies by both your purchase price and the live price, and reports the difference. You can enter your purchase price in your own currency and choose the unit it was quoted in, so the result matches how you actually bought.
Imagine you bought 50 grams of gold when the price was $1,800 per troy ounce, and the price is now $2,000. Your 50 grams equal about 1.607 troy ounces. Your original cost was 1.607 × $1,800 ≈ $2,893, and the current value is 1.607 × $2,000 ≈ $3,215 — an unrealized gain of about $322, or roughly an 11 percent return before premiums, storage, or taxes.
If your question is less “what is my gold worth” and more “would I have done better in gold or Bitcoin,” open the Investment Analyzer. It backtests an amount across any two assets — metals or crypto — over periods from 24 hours to 5 years and shows you the winner.

Multiply the gross weight by the karat purity. A 20-gram 22K chain contains 20 × 0.916 = 18.3 grams of pure gold. The purity calculator does this and then values that fine gold at the live 24K spot price.
They are purity hallmarks: 916 means 91.6% pure (22K), 750 means 75% pure (18K), and 999 means 99.9% pure (24K). Enter the matching karat in the calculator for an accurate value.

No. They show the raw metal value only. Real purchases add a dealer premium, a making charge for jewelry, and local taxes such as VAT or GST, so the amount you actually pay or receive will differ.

Karat measures gold purity in parts of 24 (24K is pure gold). Carat is a unit of weight for gemstones (0.2 grams). They sound alike but measure completely different things — for gold value, you want karat.
